Restore Coaching: Care for Your Staff
Each summer, Crossings Ministries hires approximately 130 summer staff to lead students in Bible study, work in our dining hall, clean, lifeguard, and much more. Our mission is to create experiences to proclaim the gospel, and one of the primary ways we accomplish that mission is through the relationships built by our summer staff with students, opening the door for gospel conversations. The physical, mental, and spiritual health of our summer staff is vitally important for us to accomplish our mission of proclaiming the gospel.
Always looking for new ways to invest in the lives of our summer staff, we embraced the Restore process by first going through it with our full-time staff during a Restore retreat. For two days we were reminded of God’s story, how he created us for love, our fall, how Jesus restores us with love, and the consummation as we will enjoy His love forever.
We found that working through the process of writing and sharing our stories with each other brought healing for some, and a better understanding of each other to all. Working through each step and guiding each of us to the theme of our life story enabled us to not only understand ourselves better, but for others to better understand us as well.
Having impacted each of us, we chose to use Restore with our summer staff. Throughout the summer, staff continued to talk about the impact Restore had on them individually, but also collectively, as it made them more understanding of each other and ultimately a better team. I would highly recommend Restore as a means of coaching and caring for your staff.
