Restore Consulting Testimony: A Biblical Framework for a Thriving Church

My name is Orlando Cabrera, and I have the privilege of serving as a Directional Elder and Campus Pastor at Summit Church, a Sojourn Network church in Southwest Florida. It was through the network where I was first introduced to Robert Cheong, and I have been so grateful for his friendship ever since.

The Restore framework has been instrumental in helping us at Summit Church develop a ministry of care. Several pastors and I, representing each of our three Summit campuses, were able to be a part of a cohort that had us focus on developing a gospel-centric plan for discipleship and care for our church. The months that we were able to spend with Robert during the cohort, and the time we have with him since, have been nothing short of amazing.

Obviously, every pastor and every church has a desire to shepherd and care for their people well. All pastors want to live faithfully into that Biblical mandate, but what Robert helped us do was to bring a robust biblical and gospel-centered framework to our efforts.

During his consulting visit, we were able to develop a plan that was not only pragmatic, but more importantly, a plan that flowed right from Scripture. This is one of things that I think makes the Restore framework so unique and so good. It is not a plug-and-play strategy for discipleship and care. Rather, it’s a rich look at what the Scriptures say first and foremost ,followed by a prayerful consideration of how best to implement the framework for your church and your people.

Robert helped us to think through the most effective ways for both training our leaders and laying out our plan church-wide. The tools we learned during our cohort and our 2-day consultation helped us to develop an approach for our specific context that has been invaluable and is still paying huge dividends within our ministry today.

I would strongly encourage any pastor who does not have a full laid out plan for caring for their flock, or any pastor who is wanting to build upon their plan they may have in place, to seriously consider taking a look at these resources developed by Robert over the many years of his faithful service and ministry to the Lord. I am certain the investment of time will not return void.

Not only will you and your team grow as shepherds but I truly believe your church as a whole will benefit and be blessed.
